Gastric Sleeve

Gastric sleeve surgery is a surgical procedure to treat obesity that reduces the size of the stomach by 70 to 75%. It also helps to control or prevent metabolic diseases, including diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure.

It can be an option for patients with obesity, with a BMI of 30 or higher, who have not been able to lose the necessary weight through other methods such as a healthy diet and exercise; and especially in patients who do not have gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Gastric Bypass

Gastric bypass surgery is a mixed weight loss surgery, as it is both restrictive and malabsorptive. That is, it helps with weight loss because the restrictive part decreases food intake and the metabolic part helps control diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and dyslipidemia (fat alteration).

It is indicated in patients with grade 1 obesity, that is, with a BMI above 30 and metabolic diseases, or 35 without diseases. In case of having severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (heartburn), it also helps to control it.

Mini Gastric Bypass

It is a surgical procedure similar to gastric bypass, but instead of creating a small pouch-shaped stomach, the surgeon creates a small tube-shaped stomach and a single connection from stomach to intestine, thereby reducing the amount of food that can be eaten and absorbed.

Gastric Balloon

A gastric balloon is a non-surgical weight loss procedure that involves inserting a silicone balloon into the stomach. The balloon is then filled with saline solution, which takes up space in the stomach and makes you feel full. Gastric balloons are typically kept in place for six to twelve months, and during that time, you are expected to lose weight by making changes to your diet and exercise habits.

Revision Surgery

It is a surgical procedure performed to provide a second opportunity for weight loss, once the primary surgery has either lost its effect or failed:

  • Failure to lose weight
  • Weight regain
  • Poor absorption
  • Long-term complications from the original surgery

Hospitalization

Hospitalization is the period of time during which a patient stays in a hospital after surgery. The duration of hospitalization varies depending on the type of surgery. Most patients undergoing bariatric surgery stay hospitalized for 1 to 2 days.
